Forever Young

This incident took place at 04:10 on 2024-05-25, when sjfhsjfh sent the message "Damn it, I did something stupid again [animated emoji]. I want to disappear on the spot" in the internal group chat.

What happened

sjfhsjfh wanted to do something useful, so they asked Mivik to teach them how the dynamically distributed font bold.ttf worked. The goal was to update its glyph set and fix missing characters in some languages. Things were going fairly smoothly until testing.

Based on feedback, they switched the language to French and casually opened a Stable chart, the eventual victim: #16576 Forever Young. When the problematic delete confirmation dialog appeared, sjfh's brain briefly stopped working. They knew the correct thing to do was to download the chart and delete the local file, but after downloading it they habitually scrolled to the bottom and clicked delete online instead.

At that moment, sjfh stared at the French buttons "Annuler" and "Confirmer" and started thinking at high speed. It was not hard to guess that the latter meant confirm, but by then all rational thought had already left the building. Considering it was already after the daily Arknights server reset, they hesitated for less than 0.5 seconds before clicking confirm. And that is how the message above came to be.
